Kanchenjunga Circuit Trekking – a trek into the foothill of the 3rd highest mountain in the world is probably a complete trekking in Nepal which goes to the border of Sikkim and Tibet. A restricted trekking trail of Nepal where trekkers have to issue the special permit offers trekkers to explore the natural and cultural wonders of Kanchenjunga trekking region.

It was two British climbers who first summited this mighty peak in 1955. Kanchenjunga Circuit trekking trail is relatively less visited trekking area of Nepal. As this the less tourist visited trail travelers can experience the untouched and unspoiled things on this Kanchenjunga Circuit Trekking trail.

The best time to do Kanchenjunga Circuit Trekking are September-November and March-May.

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel (1,334 m):

Upon your arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport, a Zed travels representative will be there for your warm welcome and will help you to transfer to the hotel. In free time take rest and get refreshed from the jetlag. In evening join welcome dinner organized by Zed Travels team. Overnight at hotel.

Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing:

A guided full day sightseeing is dedicated to introduce some of the UNESCO World Heritage listed sites of Kathmandu including, Soyambhunath-“The Monkey Temple”, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square. Overnight.

Fly from Kathmandu to Biratnagar (81 m) and drive to Phidim (1,179 m):

Starting day of the trip. This day we will first fly to Biratnagar. From there we will trek private vehicle and will drive to Phidim. Overnight at Phidim.

Drive to Suketar (2,420 m):

After early breakfast, this day we will further drive to Suketar. Overnight at Suketar.

Trek to Mitlung (921 m/ 4-5 hours trek):

From Suketar we will formally start our trekking. From there we will first take descending trail and will cross several small yet wonderful settlements and slowly reach to Mitlung. We will stay overnight at Mitlung.

Mitlung to Chirwa (1,270 m/5-6 hours trek):

We will take early breakfast, after that with some ups and downs we will first trek to Sinwa. Our trail from Sinwa descends to Tawa. From Tawa we will ascent trail to reach Chirwa for overnight. Overnight at Chirwa.

Chirwa to Sukathum (1,576 m/5-6 hours trek):

Setting destination Sukathum today we will trek through dense forest , with some uphill and downhill along with Tamor river and eventually reach to Sukatham. We will stay overnight at Sukathum.

Sukathum to Amjilosa (2,308 m /6-7 hours trek):

A challenging trekking day. The trail from Sukathum first cross the suspension bridge. After then our trail enters the dense forest and will eventually lead us to Amjilosa for overnight.

Trek to Gyabla (2,730 m/ 6-7 hours trek):

After a challenging previous day, we will go through relatively easy trail today. From Amjilosa the route goes through dense forest and then it ascends and descends to take us Gyabala, which is a Tibetan settlement. We will stay overnight at Gyabla.

Gyabla to Ghunsa (3,595 m/5-6 hours trek):

From Gyabla we take descending trail to Phale. Phale is a Tibetan refugee settlement and a small market for handicrafts. From Phale we trek through forest and reach Ghunsa for overnight. Stay overnight at Ghunsa.

Rest day at Ghunsa:

This will be acclimatization day at Ghunsa. This we can do a short trekking to Laspan La monastery. Enjoy your free day. Overnight at Ghunsa.

Trek to Kambachen (4,050 m/5-6 hours trek):

From Ghunsa, we will trek through rhododendron and pine forest and will also experience some challenging mountain walk to reach Kambachen. Along the way we will be rewarded by spectacular mountain views. Overnight at Kambachen.

Acclimatization Day at Kambachen:

This day is for acclimatization which we can utilize by exploring wonderful Kambachen village. Overnight at Kambachen.

Kambachen to Lhonak (4,780 m/6-7 hours trek):

This day will be one of the challenging trekking day. We take early breakfast and then will start our trekking. This day we will first trek through challenging rocky field. After then we will cross the suspension bridge and reach Ramtang monastery where we can enjoy some time exploring. From there we will take descent trail and will trek to Lhonak for overnight.

Trek to Pangpema/Kanchenjunga North Base Camp (5,388 m/6-7 hours trek):

Our trail today goes through Kanchenjunga Glacier. We will trek through a difficult sections to Pangpema, we then climb up where we can get magnificent views Mount Kanchenjunga, Chang Himal and Jannu. Enjoy the views. Overnight.

Trek back to Kambachen (4,050 m/6-7 hours trek):

This day we return same way back to Kambachen. It will be a descending trail all the way back to Kambachen. Reach Kambachen and stay overnight there. Overnight.

Kambachen to Ghunsa (3,595 m/3-4 hours trek):

The trail from Kambachen descends through forests. On the way back we can also enjoy wonderful mountain views. Overnight at Ghunsa.

Ghunsa to Sele Le (4,290 m/6-7 hours trek):

From Ghunsa we will take steep up trail to Sele Le. As it is uphill trek we will walk slowly to reach Sele Le for overnight. Overnight at Sele Le.

Sele Le to Cheram (3,870 m/ 6-7 hours trek):

This is leveled as one of the tough trekking day of Kanchenjunga. We will pass several pass including. Mirgin La, Sinon La and Sinepache. We will really experience of the tough trekking this day. Overnight at Cheram.

Cheram to Ramche (4,580 m) and trek back to Cheram(4-5 hours trek):

From Cheram our trail first passes the Yamlung glacier then pass Laspang village to reach Ramche. From Ramche we further walk to the southern face of the Kanchenjunga and a little up to Oktang Monastery place, from where we can enjoy the superb views of Jannu Himal. After spending some time, we will then trek back to Cheram for overnight.

Cheram to Tortong (2,995 m/5-6 hours trek):

The trail from Cheram to Tortong is all the way down through rhododendron forest. Enjoy walking on the virgin trails. Overnight in Tortong.

Tortong to Yamphudin (2,080 m/ 6-7 hours trek):

From Tortong we will take descend trail and which will ultimately lead us to Yamphudin Village. In free time we can enjoy exploring this wonderful village. Overnight at Yamphudin.

Yamphudin to Yangpang (1,007 m/ 6-7 hours trek):

After breakfast we will start our trekking. This day we will pass several small streams and wonderful settlements and Mamankhe village is the pick of the day where we can find Limbu museum and cultural center. Reach Yangpang and stay overnight.

Yangpang to Thorpu (1,500 m/5-6 hours trek)

From Yangpang, we will further trek to Thorpu. We will pass several small yet wonderful villages along the way where interaction with the locals makes the trek absolutely amazing. Overnight at Thorpu.

Thorpu to Birtamod (300 m/ 5-6 hours trek):

From Thorpu this day we will drive to Birtamod. Overnight at Birtamod.

Drive to Bhadrapur and fly back to Kathmandu:

This day we will first drive to Bhadrapur and from there we will catch our flight and will fly back to Kathmandu. In evening we will join farewell dinner organized by Zed Travels team for successful Kanchenjunga Circuit Trekking. Overnight at hotel.
