Island Peak Climbing, a Technical Peak Climbing in Nepal

Island Peak Climbing (6,189 m) is one of the famous peak climbing in Nepal. Island Peak is also known as “Imje Tse” and climbing of this peak is levelled as technical peak climbing in Nepal. Island Peak climbing is one of the finest peak climbing trip in Everest region which offers peak climbing and trekking in Everest within a single trip.
It is suggested that climbers interested for Island Peak Climbing is better to have previous peak climbing experience and must have good health condition.

The best time to climb Island Peak is spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November).

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,334 m):

Upon your arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, a Zed Travels representative will be there for your warm welcome and help you to transfer to the hotel. IN hotel take good rest and get refreshed from jetlag. In evening join welcome dinner organized by Zed Travels Team. Overnight at hotel.

Half Day Kathmandu Sightseeing and Gear managing:

A half day Kathmandu valley sightseeing is dedicated to introduce some the UNESCO World Heritage Listed sites of Kathmandu which includes, Soyambhunath,Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square. After sightseeing we will arrange our gears for the climbing. If you do not have any gears then your guide will help you to either buy or hire it in Thamel. Overnight at hotel.

Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding:

Early morning we will take spectacular flight to Lukla. From Lukla we will trek through Dudh Koshi River to get Phakding for overnight.

Phakding-Namche Bazar (3,440 m):

After breakfast, we follow Dudhkoshi river we then pass several suspension bridges. With 6.5 hours walking we reach Namche Bazar which is the trading center of Khumbu Region. Overnight.

Acclimatization day in Namche Bazar:

A rest day in Namche Bazar. This day we visit Tourist Visit Center to collect the knowledge of Sherpa traditions, cultures and flora and faunas of Khumbu Region. We also can hike up to Thame. As Namche is the last place to check the gears we also have time to check our gears and if something missed then we can hire it there. Overnight.

Namache Bazar to Tengboche (3,870 m):

Set off towards Tengboche. This day the trail goes ups and downs and magnificent views of Mt Everest, Mt Nuptse, Mt Lhotse and close views of Thamserkhu and Amadablam will accompany along the way to Tengboche. As Tengboche is one of the best mountain view point we can enjoy the superb views of mountains. Tengboche also has the biggest Buddhist Monastery of Everest Region. Enjoy exploring. Overnight.

Tengboche to Dingboche (4,360 m):

From Tengboche, this day we will trek to Dingboche. We pass several Chortens and Mani walls and small villages during this day. This day we also cross a village name Pangboche where the oldest Monastery of Everest Region is located. As Dingboche is another view point, we can enjoy amazing mountain views from there. Overnight.

Dingboche to Chukhung (4,730 m):

After breakfast, we will resume our walking. This day we will trek to Chukkung. We can enjoy inspiring views of Amadablam and Lhotse mountains on the way to Chukhung. Overnight at Chukhung.

Island Peak Basecamp (5,200 m):

After breakfast, we start our trekking and take steep up trail which first climb south and then turns to east. It then gradually lead us to Island Peak Base Camp. On the way to base camp we can see wonderful Lhoste Glacier. Upon arriving base camp we will set our tent. After then we can have some pre climbing training. Overnight.

Summit Island Peak and back to Base Camp (5,600 m):

This day, to avoid the winds we start early morning around 2am. As the way up to summit is technical we climb up slowly and carefully. Upon we get to the summit we can enjoy superb views. After spending some time at the top, we then will descend down to base camp for overnight.

Island Peak Base Camp to Pangboche (3,985 m):

From Island Base Camp, we take descend down trail through Khmubu valley where further we will passes some beautiful Sherpa settlements of Orsho and Somare before reaching Pangboche. In Pangboche we can enjoy the stunning views of mountains including Mt Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kangtaiga. Overnight at Pangboche.

Pangboche to Namche Bazaar:

We take descent trail from Pangboche and reach Tengboche first. From Tengboche we walk through dense forest of Juniper and rhododendron with following Dudh Koshi River bank to reach Namche Bazar for overnight.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla:

Final day of our walk. Today will trek to Lukla. With 6/7 hours trekking we will reach Lukla where we stay overnight.

Fly to Kathmandu:

We will take forty minutes spectacular flight to get back to Kathmandu. In hotel you will have plenty of time for rest. In evening, buy some gifts for friends and family back home. After that join farewell dinner organized by Zed Travels Team for successful Island Peak Climbing. Overnight at hotel.

Fly back home:

A Zed Travels representative will accompany you to Tribhuvan International Airport with beautiful memoriesto catch your returning flight.
